Morphless

This unique form is bionically inspired by the shell structure of the animal called “Armadillo”.  The armadillo’s rigid shell is made dynamically flexible by panels which contract to protect itself and unfurl to allow for movement.  Similarly, this building’s panel system allows it to quickly respond to the changing functional needs of the airport and its occupants through expansive reveals and compacting overlaps.

The Very Fast Airport, a new cosmopolitan model, which while it may indeed be even more technological, will not make the representation of the technology dominant, allowing for other unique and inflected sensibilities to emerge. It also encourages designers to think of the design in an innovative way.
